TLDR: Gigabyte uses non-standard 4-pin fan headers which are incompatible with everything else. So now I can't actually use pwm to control my fans properly because Gigabyte screwed around with the pinouts. I tried swapping the pins on the fan to take the speed control (normally pin 4) from pin 2 on the Gigabyte 4-pin, no joy.

I flipped through the manual for the pin diagrams, to find that the 4-pin headers aren't actually proper PWM headers (with the exception of the CPU header)

In this article we have curated the top fan control software apps that can work for Windows or MAC computers, laptops, or even vendor specific apps that provide a wide range of additional features.

Tried all the other fan headers, all except the CPU_FAN cause the fan/pump to run at full speed. The Fan should not engage until the card reaches 60c - the fan should stay engaged until it reaches 50c Then some motherboard, in the BIOS have controls as well. Such fan control software allows you to take control of the fan speed, create profiles of fan performance etc. First off, we have the ITE8620E, which is a super IO in charge of CPU fan control. Swapped the two around, now pump runs normally, fans run full speed only. GIGABYTE is using a plethora of ITE branded ICs to control everything from SuperIOs to BIOS control mechanisms. Fans ran normally, pump only ran above 50% duty cycle. The fans only take the PWM speed control and return a speed signal (only uses two wires, power is from a SATA power connector)Īt first, I plugged the fans into the CPU_FAN header, pump into CPU_OPT. I bought a Swiftech H320, which has two PWM fan headers one for pump, one for fans (through a PWM splitter). Buy AORUS RGB Liquid Cooler 360, 360mm Radiator, Triple 120mm Windforce PWM Fans, Customizable Full Color LCD Display, Advanced RGB Lighting and Control, Intel 115X/2066, AMD AM4, TR4 with fast shipping and top-rated customer service.

SYS_FAN2/3 - Both 4-pin headers, controlled together You may want to swap on the stock intel fan just make sure the Zalman PWM fan isnt causing the. If the fan is still running at 100 I would set the mode to voltage, and the control to auto. SYS_FAN/SYS_OPT (which are supposed to mirror each other, for use with multiple CPU fans) Re: Gigabyte H55m-s2v pwm fan control issue Right above the Smart Fan Mode settings, should be the Smart Fan Control setting make sure its set to enabled. 1.0) Smart Fan 5 Utility B19.0325. It seems many of Gigabyte's newer motherboards are have a similar issue and I am baffled at how they can do something as stupid as removing manual fan control from the motherboard settings. Not sure if this should be in troubleshooting or not. I tried a fix under the name of FanFlow but that didn't work either. I notice the fan turns on at a low speed every few minutes under low CPU load despite the CPU temperatures being only c. I also tried to use its utility but it cannot read my GPUs temperature and thats why I want to find a software that run on Windows which can read all of those temp info from CPU, GPU.

Using Gigabyte's APP Center and System Information Viewer got my fans down to 7% or so once and then proceeded to not work again after that.īelow a certain percentage, it just decides to output the same fan speed. Ive set the cooling option under power control on my new HP ProBook G6 450 laptop to passive and it has the latest BIOS version. Fan control tends to be manufacturer-specific so youll most likely have to use the utility from them. SpeedFan 4.5.1 and the new current beta is only picking up the ITE8620E chip that controls some system fan headers but not the other chip that takes care of the cpu_fan and opt headers which are what I need for true pwm control to run my noctuas at my previous running speed of 7%. AMD A320 Ultra Durable Motherboard with Hybrid Digital VRM Solution, NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 22110 M. They have a silent, normal, % pwm cycle/degree, and 100%. Their motherboard settings don't allow for manual control. I'm using the GA-x99-UD4P with my NF-A15's off of a 5 way-pwm splitter with a NF-S12A pwm off of the cpu_opt header.
